LONGO’S

The Head Office and distribution centre for this high end grocery chain, specializing in fresh produce, contains a dry warehouse as well as coolers and freezers with five different temperature ratings. There are both refrigerated and ambient loading dock areas, as well as a 10,000 sq. ft. commissary for the preparation of ready-to-eat foods. The head office of 50,000 sq. ft. occupies a 3-storey tower.

The sustainably designed building is LEED-SILVER certified by incorporating rooftop photovoltaic cells, heat recovery from the refrigeration equipment, energy-efficient lighting with optimized controls, bioswales to reduce stormwater runoff, and a host of other features.

This project received an Award of Merit from the City of Vaughan Urban Design Award.
