Completed between 2018 and 2020, the interior modernization project of Molson Coors' headquarters in Toronto aimed to create spaces that would strengthen team spirit and employees' sense of belonging, while also attracting new talent sought by the company. "Molson Coors was expanding and wanted offices that could accommodate its growth while maintaining a human and friendly dimension," summarizes Robert Weleschuk, project director for GKC.

The project's main challenge was to link the head office's east and west wings to create a sense of unity, both physical and symbolic. “We quickly realized that employees were working in silos, without meeting or interacting with each other,” explains Weleschuk. The project team imagined a vast, luminous atrium featuring a monumental staircase that would act as a link between the two parts of the headquarters, encouraging employees to “explore the other side”.
The atrium embodies the essence of the project, blending warm wood tones with neutral colours and raw materials like concrete and glass, artificial and natural light, to create an inviting and inspiring atmosphere.
Work areas, from the reception to offices and collaborative spaces, echo this design in a deliberately minimalist style that places people at the heart of the experience—as does the choice of furniture, both inviting and functional in form, colour and ergonomics. Strategically placed graphic wall elements in solid colours recall the identity, culture and history of Molson Coors.
Amenity areas like the cafeteria (which could also be used as a meeting room for the 400 employees) and the sports bar, designed as a place for after-work relaxation, offer contrasting and complementary ambiances that encourage socializing and interaction at different times of the day, in order to strengthen social bonds and the spatial and affective relationship with the company.
To optimize office efficiency while providing an employee-friendly workplace conducive to attracting top talent, it was essential to create a strong physical and emotional bond between people and their environment.
