Harden - Distribution Centre and Offices

  • Location Vaudreuil-Dorion , QC
  • Area 457 000 sq. ft.
  • Status Completed, 2024

As the inaugural building at the Henry Ford Campus in Vaudreuil-Dorion, this 457,000-sq.-ft. project seamlessly integrates a distribution centre with administrative spaces. Located on Henry Ford Street, near Highways 20, 30, and 40, the site is ideally positioned for efficient logistics and distribution operations.

As the initial structure within this new seven-lot industrial park, the LEED-certified building sets a benchmark for development, prioritizing construction quality, sustainability, and thoughtful architectural integration.

An efficient site organization

The facility features a spacious 45'-6"-high warehouse alongside a 33'-0" administrative volume with a mezzanine. Facing the access road, the extensively glazed offices create a transparent, welcoming frontage at the main entrance.

The site layout thoughtfully separates circulation flows: car parking is organized in the front yard and bordered by landscaped strips, while truck courts are positioned along the building’s sides with dedicated access points. The office volume and a screen wall help conceal logistics operations from the site entrance, enhancing the campus’s visual appeal.

Bringing rhythm to large-scale architecture

Vertical metal panels in three dark tones form a subtle façade gradient. Their irregular arrangement adds visual movement, while glazed openings punctuate the long elevations and reduce the warehouse's perceived scale.

The administrative volume adopts a lighter expression. Its glazed façade, extending along the access road, contrasts with the distribution centre's metal envelope, clearly distinguishing the building’s functions while preserving a cohesive architectural composition.

A façade designed for highway visibility

Running parallel to Highway 30, the rear façade receives the same architectural attention as the main frontage. Dark metal panels, framed by a broad white border, heighten the contrast and give the elevation a bold, graphic quality.

The white frame continues onto the side façades, creating visual continuity around the building. Vertical openings punctuate these elevations, breaking up their length. The result is a carefully articulated structure on all sides, whether viewed from the campus entrance or the highway.

A first milestone for Henry Ford Campus

As the first completed project at Henry Ford Campus, the building establishes a strong identity for the new industrial park. Its LEED certification, functional organization, and carefully designed envelope reflect an approach that integrates the demands of a large-scale logistics facility with sustainable, distinctive architecture.
